I always wanted to write and publish, but I have never dreamed of writing a book like this - Letters between Two Friends, and neither have I dreamed of doing it with an old friend abroad. I venture to say that Helen Snow never dreamed to publish such a book either.
This book collects nearly all of the letters between Helen Snow and me in the past 20 years, totaling about 200. These are letters between a senior American citizen and a young man of his 30s in China. This book also serves as a witness to the Sino-American people’s friendship.
Glancing at the title and subtitle of this book, many readers may ask me: How could you get to know Helen Foster Snow? How could you two, one is much older and the other is much younger, exchange so many letters? Well, this is a very long story. I would like to give you a briefing from the very beginning.
